Making Cold Brew Coffee

What Is Cold Brew Coffee?

Many tend to confuse cold brew with iced coffee. Even though they're both served cold, they're made in very different ways. Iced coffee is made with hot water, while Cold brew is made with cold or room temperature water. It takes a little longer to make , but the flavor is less bitter.

What is the best way to prepare cold brew coffee?

First of all do not be discouraged by the process it takes of the frigid period of cold coffee . I recommend to make a large amount at a time, so you can keep it in the fridge at all times.

This is how I go about it:

To begin, coarsely grind your coffee (dark roasted coffee beans, ideally espresso beans).

For this recipe, I do not advocate using pre-ground coffee beans. If you don't have a coffee grinder to grind the beans yourself, you can buy them freshly ground from a nearby coffee shop or grill.

Trust me there's a big difference in flavor!

Fill a large mason jar halfway with purified water (room temperature) and add the coffee grinds, mix gently with a bar spoon and then steep it for at least 12 hours or overnight.

During this time, the coffee is slowly mixed into the water, making a strong, concentrated drink that is free of bitterness. The next morning pour the coffee through the strainer and store it, covered, in the fridge.

Pour your coffee over ice and dilute it with more water or milk to taste when you're ready to drink it. My favorite way to drink it is with almond or oat milk. Enjoy!

What Are the Benefits of Cold Brewing Coffee?

This coffee-making method has a few advantages:

The slow infusion extracts all of the wonderful coffee flavor (as well as the caffeine, don't worry!).

However, it also leaves behind the majority of the chemicals that give coffee it's bitter and acidic flavor.

Cold brewed coffee is exceptionally smooth and even sweet-tasting as a result of this. It's ideal for iced coffee.

You can make cold brew coffee with just a large mason jar, an immersion brewer, such as Takeya Brew Coffee Maker or just a French press. Now if you want to take it to another level, take a look at the Dash Rapid Cold Brew Coffee Maker .
